Continue to pray for Patti Sharpless who is at home receiving hospice care. Praise God for her salvation. Following is an update from Patti's husband Steve. Our prayers need to extend to family members who travel this emotional time by Patti's side.
Sorry I’m behind on updates…been kind of crazy with the cold and snowy weather. We had 4 furnaces give us problems at camp yesterday and then out early plowing and shoveling for the retreat group this morning. Patti’s condition is deteriorating and she sleeps most of the time now…the nurse tells us some is due to the meds and some is due to the disease. She did have a lot of visitors today, Brian Johansson (VP of Christian Herald) stopped in and gave some encouraging words to me and shared his heart, his wife has struggles with health issues so we could relate some similar feelings. Thanks Brian. Pastor Steve also stopped in with more encouragement and spent some time talking with me. Thanks Steve. And then Patti’s sister Sandi and mother in-law/friend Robin are here to stay overnight. Patti really made my day today, as Jacqui and I were working through getting her on the bedside commode for the first time and changing her clothes I was lifting her back in bed and as I was leaning over her to fix her pillows she whispered in my ear “I appreciate you” those words made me feel like a million bucks.
I don’t know if I shared this with you all yet…if I did I apologize…the days are kind of running together. A couple of nights ago while Patti was sleeping I picked up her Promise Bible…you see when she went on disability she was busy trying to tie up some loose ends that were on her mind but also spent a couple of hours a day studying scripture and highlighting verses. I had the privilege to look at those highlights and there was no surprise in what I read. She had highlighted many verses talking about honesty, love, grace, caring for others, service, salvation and eternity with Jesus. During our years working at the hunting club Patti loved serving folks and was really good at balancing those long days of service and loving on her family. Then when coming to the retreat center she really found her niche, she loved organizing and creating systems that worked for her and she absolutely loved serving the groups that came through the camp. She used the many years of food service experience, office work experience and hard work ethics to pull off a daunting task…but wanted more than anything to give the glory to God. Then summer camp would come around…she loved those little kids that came to camp and worked tirelessly again to create systems with the help of Awesome Kate to try and make the sometimes chaotic situations flow like water. It was amazing to watch the lifelong connections she would make with summer staff…it would usually start out with one of them coming to her with a challenge or a problem…she would work them through whatever it was and then that was it…friend for life. All of that came from honesty, grace, love and an encouraging word…like…it’s gonna be alright. Patti was like a Mom to many a summer staff and it always amazed me how she could balance all that work and still find time to be that Mom. So all that stuff she highlighted was a true reflection of her beliefs and how she lived out her life. Well done my good and faithful servant will be the words she hears as she feasts with Jesus.
Pastor Sayer writes this: 1) Thanks for adding Lisa Windish to the prayer chain. She broke her back in the accident and it looks like she will be paralyzed from the waist down. That’s a terrible thing on top of her other situations. 2) I have one other person to add to the prayer chain. I spoke with Donna Gasiewicz today. She comes to the evening service. She’s been battling Lyme Disease for a long time and it’s been quite disabling. She’s also had a severe, long-term GI infection from medication she had to take for Lyme. Additionally she’s trying to resolve some problems with adrenal function. So she’s got a long list of things to put into prayer, all of which are keeping her from leading the life she wants to.

John and Teri Eckert ask prayers for their daughter, Elena who has had chronic stomach pain for a year. She is scheduled to see a specialist this Thursday who will probably order tests to determine any ongoing problems that can be treated and make her well.

Moe asks prayers for his daughter Victoria who will visit the doctor today (Monday). Pray for healing. Also pray for his friend, Gary who has a stomach virus.

This week our church hosts homeless people in the Family Promise Program. Thanks go to the many volunteers who coordinate this quarterly event. There are teams who set up the Sunday School rooms as bedrooms and arrange a classroom in a living room atmosphere as a homey place to relax in the evenings. Teams take turns preparing evening meals, helping children with homework or just entertain the kids as their parents rest. People sleep overnight as a security measure and wake the families to give them breakfast and see them off for the day. Many in our congregation supply food and snack items for use as well as give of their time. It is a ministry well worth the time and energy needed to make it happen. Please pray that all these families can find permanent housing and meaningful work so they can make it on their own.

Jimmy G., our sound technician asks prayers for work to come available for him and for the health and safety of his wife Christine during her pregnancy.

Carolyn Verkaik continues to have infection in a kidney. Pray that this will clear up and her health be restored so she can function as a meaningful servant of God, serve her countries (USA & Kenya) and nurture her family.

Patricia Cook writes: I am lost. I come to worship with hopes I will find my way. My heart is heavy, my health is not the greatest. I belong nowhere. I have no one. I am lonely, weak, frightened and confused but I am trying by talking to God with hopes He can hear my distress and help me. God can perform miracles. Please pray that He can touch Patricia and make her whole.

Ask for special blessings on President-Elect Barack Obama as he is inaugurated and takes on the many daunting tasks that await him.

Continue to pray for Nelson Whittaker who will return home and have physical therapy for the hip replacement surgery. Also, pray for Maude Schoonover while she resides in the VNA Hospice House.

Pray that God can be felt in the lives for whom we pray.

EMERGENCY Prayer Request from Glenda Jansson:
My grandson, Chase, was just taken by ambulance to Kaiser Hospital in Anaheim, California (1:00 am Pacific time). He is only 3 months old. He has pneumonia in his right lung. He will be admitted for further tests; observation; and IV antibiotics and fluids. He was given a breathing treatment at the Kaiser Hospital near my son and daughter-in-laws home; but the doctors wanted to admit him to a hospital; and the Anaheim Kaiser has a pediatric unit. Please pray for baby Chase, his mom and dad, and his big brother, Hunter.

Prayer Request from Becky Foster:

My father-in-law has gained a couple of pounds,,,Hallelujah! Praise the LORD!! He is breathing and eating better..However, he is not out of the woods yet...He is still undergoing more tests and on Feb. 5 sees the specialist to determine the cause of his weight loss.. My best friend's husband, Dale Dahl, went home to be with Jesus. Thank you for your prayers... please now continue to pray for his family as they say goodbye to their loved one. Dale, his wife and three children are all Christians. We grieve, but not as those who are without hope... Thank You, Jesus!

Prayer Request from Jackie Poorman:
(My original request: "My husband who I have not seen in over 8 months is here at the house and in a lot of pain and addiction and a relationship!)
UPDATE: I am really thankful for the prayers. My husband left during the night to go back to his girlfriend but I walked in a lot of love and grace and had the opportunity to speak and pray over him so I am thankful for that.
It has been so cold here that my kids have not been over a lot but I am in much prayer for them.
My computer was down for three days so I am catching up here.
Thanks everyone for prayers. I have a lot of the joy of the Lord and peace which is more than I could ask for!
Love and Blessings

Praise and Prayer Request from Sharon C Bernath:
Hey everyone I have a praise report and also a prayer request!
Today I went from a 3 month trial to part time at work. So hopeful that will mean more hours for me and I'm very thankful to God for that.
My prayer request is that I will keep doing a good job so I can move up in my job, and also pray that I will have a positive attitude at work and at home and around people.
God bless you all. I am praying for you all as well. God hears our prays and answers them. We just sometimes have to wait and I think thats the hard part.
Have a great week everyone... God bless you all!

Prayer Requests from Dot McEntire:
Please continue to pray for Connie and Michael Fletcher as the Lord leads... thank you!
Please pray for Sharon Tulley - she is still offline and using her neighbor's computer. Not sure when she will get her computer back but hopefully soon. She said she is praying for each one here. She will be going to the hospital on April 15 for ger GI series to check her colon and they will do an acid reflux test too --- checking for cancer and bleeding.

Joseph Grandits (Lexington High School):
A month ago I would've jumped to help anyone I know or didn't know, but just recently I abandoned someone who I could have helped- someone close to me. And it's all my fault, just due to my carelessness. I feel like that even if God's grip won't loosen on me, that my grip is loosening on God. A string of events are leading me down, and I'm finding it harder and harder to bring my focus on what I need to do in the Lord's name. Most of all, I'm just completely confused someone who is very close to me, and I shouldn't even be... my mind is a complete mess lately, I just need people to pray... Please pray for my friend Emily (because I should have helped her, now it could possibly just be all up to God's grace) and please pray for me.
