Jesus and the Lamb by Katherine Brown

American impressionist Katherine Brown believes that beauty is the business of the artist.

Katherine Brown was born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1948. Her father, an avid outdoorsman, often had Katherine accompany him on his many excursions into the surrounding countryside of Mississippi and Arkansas. It was there she developed her love of growing things and the play of sunlight across the landscape. Her family's reverence for the arts afforded her frequent trips to museums, the ballet, and concerts. Her familiarity with great works of art inspired her dreams to one day create
beautiful paintings of her own.

Katherine Brown began studying art under Paul Penczner, then the leading portrait painter in Memphis. Penczner, an Austrian by birth, was a classic artist and teacher. Katherine acquired vast technical knowledge
of drawing and perspective and built upon Penczner's instruction at the National Academy School of Fine Art in New York City.

There she studied under the prestigious artists Daniel Greene, N.A., and the late Robert Phillips, N.A. "The soul cannot express itself if the hand cannot execute," Katherine believes.

Using only the purest oil pigments made in Germany and Holland as well as fine linen canvases she constructs herself, Katherine creates brilliant works of art distinctly her own.

Katherine Brown has exhibited in numerous group shows in Atlanta, New York, Boston, Washington, D.C., Dayton, Ohio, St. Simon's Island, and Sea Island, Georgia. Her work is in private and corporate collections across the United States, Europe, Australia, and Japan. Noteworthy collectors include the late philanthropist and patron of the arts
Robert Woodruff; author M. Scott Peck, M.D.; Richard Evans, Executive Vice President and C.E.O. for Gaylord Entertainment; Scott Shepherd, Publisher, Southern Living Magazine; and William Mitchell, President, Carter & Associates. Also among her clients are the Ritz Carlton
Hotels and the Wedding Palace in Kyoto, Japan. She has done a series of paintings for Tiffany & Company in Atlanta and has done a number of paintings for Southern Living Magazine's showhouses in Atlanta and Nashville.
